HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY REBECCA ANNE!!!!
It just so happened that Rebecca's 1st Birthday fell on a Saturday and we were able to celebrate it on the actual day!!
We had a good number of people over to our house for bar-b-que (thanks to Pops) as well as cake and ice cream. We just had both sets of grandparents (Pops, Mimi, Grandaddy, and Grammy), a couple of friends who we have known since middle school (Will and Kristen Parker), the three couples (and kids) who have been gracious enough to give their time and energy to help take care of and love our little Rebecca Anne while we are at work (David, Paula, and Brooke Hester; Jason, Alissa, and Brody Clarke; and Keith, Emily, Noah, and Benjamin Anderson), and the couple who were at the hospital that wonderful night before any of our family could get here so we wouldn't have to be alone (Tony and Betty Anderson). These friends, well I dare say family have been wonderful to us and truly love our little Rebecca Anne and John David and I will be ever grateful to them for all that they have done for us and our little girl over the past year; as well as continue to do for us.
We truly have been blessed to be here in Huntsville and part of the wonderful West Huntsville Church of Christ Family; those already mentioned are only a handful of our dear friends here who have helped make Huntsville feel like home when we moved here right after I graduated from Pharmacy School!!!!

These were the decorations that we put on her high chair for the party, but as you will see in later photos, the little flags that go around the try didn't make it very long and neither did the party hat.

Here is a picture of the balloon bouquet and the gift table!

Mimi and I made both of these cakes. With her help I am starting to learn how to do cake decorating (I think I'm too much of a perfectionist for it, but I did have fun). The little pink bear is the one that we made JUST for Becca to enjoy. The bigger one in the shape of the number one was made in the same cake pan that Mimi made my first birthday cake.

Here is a close up of the main birthday cake. The icing was a collaboration of both Mimi and I taking turns on different parts of it. I think it turned out really cute, and it sure was good. I don't think there was even a piece left when we went to bed that night.

Someone is not quite awake yet...But it's time for breakfast Birthday Girl!!!

A little breakfast in that little tummy and it was time for the birthday girl to go exploring and she found her presents first thing and wanted to go ahead and open them before her guests got there.

We put some of them down on her level so that we could see what she'd do when she saw them. It was cute, but we had to try to keep her away from them for the rest of the morning.

She even drug one of them out from under the table and proceeded to try to take the bow off of it!! How cute!!!

When she went to bed the night before, I was not finished decorating her little teddy bear cake so Mimi and I showed it to her that morning before everyone else got there. I think she wanted it right then. She knew it was especially for her. The cake for everyone else to enjoy was under the box that the Bear was sitting on.
Party Time!!!!

Here you can see ALL of Becca's little friends who came to her birthday party; the twins Noah and Benjamin (how cute in their pumpkins shirts), Brody, and Brooke.

Here Brooke and Becca were having a good time running around, and Brooke was doing a great job acting like a BIG sister and taking care of her. Those two are so sweet and cute too!!!! Brooke's mom, Paula, is the one that made Becca's Birthday dress (there are cupcakes all over it). It is adorable!!!! I think it's big enough that she'll wear it again next year with some tights or leggings under it...though we'll probably not wait an entire year to put her in it again I just LOVE that dress!!!!
When Becca was really little and I had to go back to work, Brooke's mom was the one who took care of her for us. It is really cute, every time we are at church Brooke has to come find Becca and give her a hug and a kiss...and when they got her a "Big Girl Bed" and ask her who she wanted to come spend the night with her first in her new bed, she told them (and still does) that she wants Becca to be the first one to spend the night with her. Isn't that just the sweetest thing!!!

She had a BIG time opening the presents, and especially playing with the bows!!
We decided to open the presents before we ate or anything else that way if she got too tired or fussy she could go to bed and everyone would still be there to see her with her gifts too.

She actually helped me open a few of the presents!

She just sat there for a little while and was trying to take it all in.

Brody had to be in the middle and was eager to show Becca how some of the toys worked. They sure do have a great time playing with each other every week.

She was trying to get to her cake while we were singing happy birthday to her!!! She wanted to get into that cake ALL morning long!

She had to clap after everyone finished singing happy birthday to her!

At first she just kind of picked at the icing and did not eat much of it, but once she found the chocolate cake underneath, it was all over for that poor little pink teddy bear!!!

Just had to show everyone at least one picture of her stuffing her face with the cake. She was covered in cake and icing, but managed not to get any in her hair and we didn't even have to go take a bath right afterwords either (though she got one that night before bed just to make sure we didn't miss anything).

Can you tell she was enjoying her cake!!!
We didn't get any when she was through, but I think she ate most of the cake. By the time she was through and just playing with it there was less than half as much on the try as you see now and it was not on the floor or in the seat either.

Brody had been trying to show her how to ride the 4-Wheeler!! They sure were cute in their Bama shirts!

She had fun playing with her friends and running all around the house with them, but I think she had more fun playing with her toys after everyone was gone too; boy was she tired!

Riding the 4-Wheeler and checking out her other new toys at the same time!!!

She has had a lot of fun playing with her pink Kawasaki 4-Wheeler!!! This week she finally figured out how to get on and off of it all by her self. But she still only pushes it backwards.
Can you tell by her sweatshirt what we were watching after the party was over??
Oh and when you say Roll Tide she either claps or says "yea, yea!"

She sure did have fun playing the baloons (which are still up 2 weeks later and she's still having fun playing with them)!!!
